Uherské Hradiště launches 52nd Summer Film School festival
The 52nd edition of the Letní filmová škola (Summer Film School) opened in Uherské Hradiště on 24 July 2026 and runs until 30 July. The opening featured the Czech premiere of Tomáš Hubáček’s mystery drama Wirbel.
The programme combines Czech‑Slovak new releases, over 200 curated films, retrospectives of Roman Polanski, Michelangelo Antonioni and costume designer Ester Krumbachová, as well as selections of African, Eastern‑European and Balkan cinema.
International guests include actors Jiří Lábus and Anna Geislerová, French‑Senegalese director Ramata‑Toulaye Sy, French animator Michel Ocelot and Italian filmmaker Davide Rapp. The festival also offers concerts, theatre, workshops, photography exhibitions and children’s activities. It is supported by the city of Uherské Hradiště, Czech Television, Czech Radio, the Ministry of Culture, the State Audiovisual Fund, the Zlín Region and the EU Creative Europe programme.
