Summer Insect Safety Guidance Issued for France and Belgium

In the French commune of Entremont-le-Vieux, La Poste workers have reported a rise in stinging insects such as wasps and hornets near mailboxes during the hot summer months. They advise regularly checking for nests, arranging safe removal, and avoiding placing flowers or attractive plants close to boxes to protect postal staff and residents.

In Belgium, entomology professor Claudio Lazzari recommends preventing mosquito bites by eliminating standing water, keeping gutters clear, using window screens, and applying repellents. He stresses that controlling mosquito breeding sites is essential during periods of heat and drought.
