Summer McIntosh wins silver at Pan Pacific Swimming Championships
At the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Irvine, California, Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh earned a silver medal in the women’s 200-metre freestyle with a time of 1:53.86. Australia’s Lani Pallister took first place (1:53.67), while New Zealand’s Erika Fairweather finished third (1:55.05).
Other notable results from the opening day include Canadian Blake Tierney winning gold in the men’s 100-metre backstroke with a time of 53.18 seconds. Taylor Ruck of Canada secured bronze in the women’s 50-metre butterfly and also placed third in the women’s 100-metre backstroke.
McIntosh, a 19-year-old multi-Olympic medalist, is currently training under coach Bob Bowman. She enters the competition looking to build on her previous international successes and challenge existing world records.
