Summer reading programs see high engagement in Graz and Pullach

Summer reading programs for children have seen significant engagement in Graz, Austria, and Pullach, Germany.

In Graz, the Steiermärkische Landesbibliothek held its “Sommerzeit ist Lesezeit” initiative. Out of 90 reading passports distributed, 26 children completed them, resulting in four winners receiving book vouchers. The library also implemented a new organization system to improve clarity and continues to offer free library cards for children and youth up to age 19.

In Pullach, the Charlotte-Dessecker-Bücherei reported a record-breaking year for its “Sommerferien-Leseclub 2026.” A total of 76 children, aged six to twelve, read 831 books, nearly triple the amount recorded the previous year. The program's success led to a larger closing ceremony at the local community center, attended by approximately 160 guests.
