Valladolid City Council Lifts Speed Limit in Low‑Emission Zone after Ozone Levels Fall

The Valladolid City Council announced on 24 July 2026 that the temporary 30 km/h speed reduction in the city’s Low‑Emission Zone (LEZ) has been cancelled. The measure, introduced under “Situation 2” on 21 July due to ozone concentrations exceeding 120 µg/m³ for three consecutive days, is no longer needed because monitoring stations recorded average eight‑hour values below that threshold on Friday.

The council also confirmed that “Situation 1”, a less severe alert activated on 7 July when ozone averaged over 100 µg/m³, remains in force, though air quality is not expected to pose a general health risk. Vulnerable groups are still advised to limit outdoor activities. The speed‑limit restriction will cease at midnight on the day of the announcement.
