Summer Sound 2026 brings tens of thousands to Liepāja, traffic limited

The Summer Sound festival will run on 31 July and 1 August 2026 on Liepāja beach and in Jūrmala park, featuring more than 60 artists from Latvia and abroad. Organisers expect tens of thousands of attendees, with free access to the festival grounds and accompanying beach‑volleyball tournaments.

Because of the event and ongoing road works on the A9 Liepāja highway, drivers heading toward Liepāja are warned of heavier traffic. Speed limits of 70 km/h between Brīvkalni and Klīves and 50–70 km/h between Blīdene and Purvakroga Brāļu kapiem apply, with expected crossing times of 15–30 minutes. Additional restrictions affect several regional routes, and real‑time traffic maps are available on the Latvian State Roads website.
