Summer textile care: Managing sweat, UV rays, and laundry
Maintaining textiles during summer requires more than just frequent washing. High temperatures and humidity increase the accumulation of sweat, skin oils, sunscreen, and salt within fabric fibers, which can lead to yellowing, odors, and structural degradation.
To preserve bedding, towels, and mattresses, it is recommended to adjust washing rhythms. During hot periods, bedding should ideally be changed weekly rather than bi-weekly. Additionally, direct UV radiation from sunlight can weaken fibers and cause colors to fade, meaning drying and storage must be handled carefully to prevent damage.
