Summerland Jets Gear Up for Inaugural Junior A Hockey Season

The community‑owned Summerland Jets, one of 22 clubs in the newly formed British Columbia Hockey Conference (BCHC), held an invitational camp that attracted around 60 players on July 24‑25 at the Summerland Arena. Head coach and hockey operations director Robert Dirk, assisted by Ace Stewart and Bailey Tamminga, evaluated prospects for spots on the club’s inaugural Junior‑A roster that will debut in September.

The Jets are seeking additional billet families to host players and have released a schedule that opens with a home game against the Osoyoos Coyotes on September 18. The team will compete in the Valley Division, with the league’s four divisions vying for the Mowat Cup.

The launch marks the return of junior hockey to Summerland, the first such game since the former KIJHL Steam moved to Williams Lake in 2024.
