Sumy residential building struck by Russian guided bomb

A Russian guided aerial bomb struck a nine-story residential building in Sumy, northeastern Ukraine, on Friday evening. The explosion occurred between the third and fourth floors, causing intense fires and significant structural damage. The strike also affected four other residential buildings in the Kovpakivskyi district.

Two municipal employees, a 52-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, were killed in the attack. Eight other people were injured, including two children aged 7 and 13, with at least three victims reported in serious condition. Rescue teams successfully pulled four individuals, including a 7-year-old boy, from the rubble, but authorities warned that more people could still be trapped.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strike as an ‘absolutely inhuman’ act. Local Mayor Artem Kobzar confirmed the identities of the deceased municipal workers.
