Sun Belt and BIG EAST Release Preseason and Scholar-Athlete Awards

Jesse Hamlin Ginny Lackey BIG EAST Sun Belt James Madison

Butler University track star Jesse Hamlin was honored as the BIG EAST Male Scholar‑Athlete of the Year. Hamlin, a mathematics and computer‑science graduate with a 3.798 GPA, earned a $4,000 scholarship and was recognized for winning the 5,000 m, mile and 4×800 m relay at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, among other academic and athletic accolades.

The Sun Belt Conference announced its preseason honors, naming James Madison University forward Ginny Lackey the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. JMU women’s soccer was selected as the league’s preseason favorite, and three Dukes—Lackey, Aleigha Arndt and Selma Rajakangas—made the preseason All‑Conference team.
