Sun Group launches Mẫu Sơn cable‑car project in Vietnam's Lạng Sơn province
Mẫu Sơn mountain, located about 30 km from Lạng Sơn city and known as one of Vietnam's coldest places, will host a new cable‑car line. The project, approved in 2018 and revised several times, received a revised schedule on 17 June 2026. Sun Group’s subsidiary, Mặt Trời Mẫu Sơn Co., will invest over VND 7.352 trillion to develop a ski‑resort‑style complex.
Phase 1, funded with VND 4.898 trillion, will complete legal procedures, construct a lower station, an upper station on the Phia Pò summit (≈1 541 m), and the cable‑car itself, targeted for the second quarter of 2028. A second phase of VND 2.454 trillion will add hotels, an event centre, indoor‑outdoor entertainment, dining, shopping and internal transport, with the whole complex slated for completion by Q4 2032. Compensation work on the lower area is over 95 % complete, though some infrastructure and permit issues remain before construction can begin.
