Sun King expands African operations with smartphones and solar products

Sun King, a global off-grid solar energy company, is expanding its product offerings and manufacturing footprint across Africa. In Kenya, the company is entering the consumer technology market by locally assembling smartphones. Utilizing its established pay-as-you-go financing model, Sun King offers its EZ smartphone range through small daily installments to lower financial barriers for consumers. This expansion follows the opening of a large-scale manufacturing facility in Kenya in October 2025, which has an annual capacity of up to 700,000 units.

In Nigeria, Sun King has expanded its solar inverter range and launched PowerFreeze, a solar-powered freezer designed for households and businesses. The company’s PowerHub portfolio now includes scalable systems ranging from 2.2 kVA to 30 kVA, intended to support everything from small homes to large-scale facilities like schools and clinics. These products aim to provide reliable alternatives to grid electricity and fuel-powered generators.
