Sun Life appoints former GE Capital Canada CEO Katherine Lee to board

Sun Life Financial Inc. announced the appointment of Katherine Lee to its Board of Directors, effective July 31, 2026. Lee is a veteran financial services executive who spent two decades at GE Capital, serving as President and CEO of GE Capital Canada from 2010 to 2015 and as CEO of GE Capital Real Estate Canada from 2002 to 2010. She has held senior roles across North America and Asia, including director of mergers and acquisitions for GE Capital’s pension fund advisory services in San Francisco and managing director of GE Capital Real Estate Korea.

Lee brings more than 20 years of public and private board experience, having served on the boards of BCE Inc., Colliers International Group, the Public Sector Pension Investment Board and Chorus Aviation. Sun Life, which reported $1.58 trillion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026, said her expertise in finance, investments and real‑estate will support its strategic priorities and long‑term value creation for clients and shareholders.
