Sun Noodle recalls Sura Tanmen kits over undeclared fish allergen
Sun Noodle of Honolulu voluntarily recalled 134 packages of its Sura Tanmen Hot and Sour Flavor Premium Japanese Noodles & Soup Base kits after discovering that a soba sauce soup base containing fish was mistakenly packed. The product labels did not indicate the presence of fish, a known allergen, prompting a warning from the Hawaii Department of Health.
The recall, limited to stores in Hawaii such as Don Quijote, Times Supermarket, H Mart, Marukai and other local distributors, affects both individual 15‑ounce packages and bulk cartons. No illnesses or adverse events have been reported, but consumers with fish allergies are advised to avoid the product and may return it for a full refund.
The department is working with retailers to remove the recalled items from shelves and has provided UPC and lot‑code details to help shoppers verify whether they purchased the affected kits.
