Sun Pharma recalls eye drops in India over contamination
Sun Pharma has withdrawn a range of eye‑drop products in India after a confidential letter dated July 17 warned of possible contamination. The company instructed distributors to stop billing the items, return all existing stock and cease further distribution. The recalled products include Depopred 2 ml, Brinolar (BKC‑free), Brinzotim 5 ml BKC‑free, Lotepred‑5 ml, Lotepred 1 % eye drops, Lotepred LS 0.2 % 5 ml, Lotepred T, Nepalact OD 3 ml, Nepalact‑Z, Toba‑F and Nepalact 5 ml. Sun Pharma said patient safety is its highest priority and that teams are working to restore product availability. Ophthalmology experts noted that many of the drops are prescribed after eye surgery or for chronic conditions such as glaucoma, infections, allergies and inflammation, and that interruption of treatment could have serious consequences. Patients are advised to stop using the recalled drops and consult their ophthalmologist for alternatives.
