Sun protection and diet are key to preventing skin aging

Dermatologists emphasize that daily sun protection is the most critical step in preventing wrinkles and visible skin aging. While products like retinol and vitamin C are popular, they are less effective if UV damage is not addressed. UV rays damage collagen and elastin, leading to pigmentation and loss of skin elasticity. Experts recommend using a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily, as UVA rays can penetrate clouds and glass.

In addition to topical protection, certain dietary choices can support skin health during summer. Foods rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and healthy fats can strengthen the skin's natural defenses. Key foods include tomatoes, which contain lycopene to reduce UV sensitivity; carrots, which provide beta-carotene for skin renewal; and leafy greens like spinach, which offer lutein and zeaxanthin to protect the skin and eyes.
