Sun Qian and Song Wei Long gain popularity following ‘Early Spring’ success

The Chinese drama ‘Early Spring’ has achieved significant international success, reaching number two on Netflix’s weekly non-English program chart and setting a new weekly viewership record for Chinese-language series with 2.4 million views.

Lead actors Jing Boran and Sun Qian released handwritten notes to thank global audiences for their support. Jing Boran expressed gratitude that the story could transcend language and geography, while Sun Qian included drawings of the character’s dog, Luke, and a peach to represent her role.

In connection to the show’s success, producer Chai Chih-ping shared archival photos from 2017, revealing that Sun Qian and Song Wei Long were discovered by her during the filming of ‘My Youth Is All About You’ in Taiwan. At the time, Sun Qian was a dance student under 20 years old, and Song Wei Long was a model without prior film credits. The revelation of their early careers in Taiwan has drawn significant attention from fans online.
