Sunbird Messaging relaunches on Android, offering iMessage with blue bubbles

Sunbird Messaging has returned to Google Play after a three‑year hiatus caused by earlier security flaws. The new version provides a redesigned inbox with primary and secondary tabs, AI‑driven features such as “Catch Me Up” for conversation summaries, and plans to integrate WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger later in the year. The service is offered on a subscription basis – $2.99 per month or $24.99 per year – with a 14‑day free trial. Sunbird says messages are encrypted on the device and during transmission, and that Apple ID credentials are used only briefly to create a session and then deleted. Media files are removed from Sunbird servers after 48‑72 hours. CEO Danny Mizrahi highlighted that the app now delivers iMessage’s blue‑bubble experience on Android, including reactions, high‑quality video, and other iMessage features, despite Apple’s recent native RCS support.
