Sunday Igboho Evades DSS Raid and Detains Alleged Spies Near Ibadan Home
Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, said Department of State Services operatives raided his Ibadan residence in the early hours of 1 July 2021 but failed to capture him. He claimed the agents mistook a cat for him, used a “fake herbalist” for rituals, pointed a gun at his assistant Dudu’s head and shot his partially blind brother, yet Igboho escaped unharmed.
In a separate incident on 19 March 2021, Igboho posted video footage of two soldiers and two civilians detained near his Soka house. He accused them of spying for the Federal Government after comments about Yoruba separation. Igboho’s spokesperson Olayiwola Koiki said the soldiers denied the allegation, and Igboho later handed the four detainees over to police.
