Sunday Igboho warns of unrest if Olubadan is removed
Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, has warned that any attempt to dethrone the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, will trigger widespread unrest and a state of emergency in Oyo State.
In a viral video, Igboho vowed to resist any government action against the monarch, stating that resistance would begin from his base in Soka, Ibadan. He dismissed rumors regarding potential ambushes against the monarch, telling Ladoja to remain at ease.
The warnings follow allegations made by former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, who claimed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde was plotting to remove the Olubadan due to his absence from a recent high chief installation ceremony. While the state Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, denied these claims, and the monarch’s media aide stated there is no rift between the governor and the king, tensions regarding chieftaincy matters in the region have continued to rise.
