Sunderland salvage draw at Brentford with late penalty

Sunderland secured a 1-1 draw against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium following a late penalty by Enzo Le Fee.

Sunderland dominated the first half and appeared to have taken the lead through Dan Ballard, but a lengthy VAR check ruled the goal out for an offside involving Kevin Danso. Brentford's head coach Keith Andrews responded to early struggles with a triple substitution at halftime, which revitalized the hosts.

Vitaly Janelt put Brentford ahead in the 58th minute with a first-time strike. Brentford briefly thought they had doubled their lead through Jaidon Anthony, but the goal was disallowed for a foul on the goalkeeper. The match turned in the 82nd minute when Keane Lewis-Potter was penalized for holding Wilson Isidor in the area. Le Fee converted the resulting penalty to equalize.
