Sunderland transfer for Dayann Methalie on hold due to medical concerns

Sunderland AFC has placed its proposed transfer of Toulouse defender Dayann Methalie on hold following concerns raised during his medical examination. The deal, valued at approximately £25.7m (€28m) plus €2m in add-ons, is currently in jeopardy.

The 20-year-old France Under-21 international has returned to France to undergo further testing. While the move appeared advanced after the club reached an agreement with Toulouse, the medical issues have created uncertainty regarding whether the transfer will proceed.

This development comes at a critical time for Sunderland as they prepare for the Premier League season. The club has already seen the departures of left-backs Arthur Masuaku and Dennis Cirkin, leaving manager Regis Le Bris reliant on Reinildo for cover in that position.
