Sundsvall filmmaker documents female journalists in Afghanistan

Filmmaker Måns Berthas from Sundsvall has spent seven years producing a documentary that follows the lives of four female journalists in Kabul, Afghanistan. The film explores their experiences and how their lives have changed since the Taliban took power in 2021.

Berthas noted that the project faced numerous challenges, stating, “We were close to giving up several times.” The documentary aims to bring renewed attention to the situation in Afghanistan, which the filmmaker believes has been overshadowed by other global conflicts in recent years. The film is scheduled for release on SVT Play on August 15, marking the anniversary of the Taliban's takeover.
