Sunedu and MIMP partner to provide university childcare services

The National Superintendency of Higher University Education (Sunedu) and the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) are collaborating to implement childcare services and lactation rooms within university campuses across Peru. The initiative aims to reduce academic dropout rates among students with parenting responsibilities by providing safe, adapted infrastructure and trained personnel.

Sunedu Superintendent Vicente Espinoza noted that while the agency supervises compliance in public universities, it also seeks to incentivize private institutions to adopt these best practices for vulnerable students. The plan intends to utilize proven early childhood models, such as the Educuna program, to establish secure environments that allow students to balance their academic pursuits with family care.
