Sunedu oversees licensing for Peruvian public universities

In Peru, efforts to expand and formalize public higher education continue through regulatory processes led by the National Superintendency of Higher University Education (Sunedu).

Deputy José Yataco Torrealva visited the Universidad Nacional Tecnológica de Chincha (Unatech) to review its progress toward institutionalization and licensing. The visit included discussions regarding the university's efforts to meet basic quality conditions and the status of nearly 10 hectares of land transferred by the Superintendencia Nacional de Bienes Estatales (SBN). The university's creation follows over 16 years of advocacy.

Simultaneously, Sunedu met with officials from the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal (UNFV) to discuss the evaluation of its Oquendo branch in Callao. The process involves modifying the university's license to include on-site programs in Economics and Accounting. Sunedu reported that the technical evaluation is in its final stages following an in-situ verification of infrastructure and quality conditions conducted in April.
