SunExpress carries 12.5 million passengers in first nine months of 2026

SunExpress, a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, reported carrying approximately 12.5 million passengers during the first nine months of 2026. This performance maintains the passenger levels seen during the same period last year. Despite rising jet fuel prices, the airline increased its load factor from 84% to 86% by adjusting seat capacity to market conditions.

The airline expects to complete 2026 with approximately 16 million passengers. During the 2026 summer season (April–September), SunExpress transported 6.5 million passengers between Turkey and its primary markets in German-speaking countries, representing a 3% increase compared to the previous year.

Looking ahead, SunExpress plans to add nine new routes to its network for the 2027 summer season. For the 2026/2027 winter season, the airline is offering approximately 4.5 million seats. CEO Marcus Schnabel noted that travel demand for Turkey remains stable despite challenging market conditions and highlighted ongoing investments in fleet renewal and network expansion.
