Sung-Mun Song returns to Padres lineup with RBI and stolen base
Sung-Mun Song returned to the Major Leagues with the San Diego Padres on August 31 (local time) following a one-week stint in Triple-A. Called up due to an injury to Luis Urías, Song started at third base and batted ninth in the game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.
In his return appearance, Song went 0-for-2 with one walk and one RBI. He recorded an RBI via a sacrifice fly in the 7th inning and successfully executed a double steal with Xander Bogaerts in the 9th inning, marking his 13th stolen base of the season. His season batting average moved from .202 to .198.
The Padres lost the game 4-5 in 11 innings. Despite taking a 4-3 lead in the top of the 11th, San Diego surrendered a run due to a defensive error and ultimately lost on a walk-off hit by Jorge Mateo.
