Sungai Petani goldsmith robbed of RM1 million in gold

Four masked men armed with hammers and sharp weapons robbed a goldsmith outlet at a shopping mall in Sungai Petani, Kedah. The robbery occurred at approximately 7:20 pm, with two suspects smashing three glass display counters to grab jewellery while two accomplices waited nearby on motorcycles.

The outlet owner estimates the value of the stolen jewellery to be between RM700,000 and RM1 million, pending a full audit. No employees were injured during the incident. Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan stated that the same outlet was previously targeted in 2024, with losses also estimated at RM1 million. The case is being investigated as gang and armed robbery.
