Sungrow and ERS Energy reach 1 GWh energy storage milestone

Sungrow and ERS Energy have reached a 1 GWh energy storage milestone through collaborative projects in Malaysia and the Philippines. These initiatives aim to enhance grid stability and support the integration of renewable energy across Southeast Asia.

In Malaysia, the companies are developing the 441 MWh MyBeST project in Bahau. Serving as part of a national large-scale battery energy storage initiative led by the Energy Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Tenaga), the project is designed to balance supply and demand by storing excess electricity and reducing reliance on fossil-fuel-based peaking generation.

In the Philippines, the partnership includes a 556 MWh, four-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) project for ACEN. This project features grid-forming capabilities to support voltage and frequency stability and will participate in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), allowing for electricity dispatch based on market conditions.
