Hungary weather: Polar vortex weakening may bring early snow

Meteorologists predict a significant shift in weather patterns for Hungary due to the early weakening of the polar vortex. While current conditions remain relatively mild with daytime highs between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius, a transition toward wintry weather is expected to begin around October 29.

Models suggest the polar vortex could collapse completely by November 3 or 4, an unusually early occurrence. This phenomenon may allow cold Arctic air to flow southward, potentially bringing temperatures well below seasonal averages. While snowfall is unlikely on the lowlands, it is possible in higher elevations of the Northern Mid-Mountains.

In the immediate term, Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny and dry following frosty mornings, with temperatures reaching up to 18 degrees Celsius. However, a cooling trend is forecasted for the latter half of the week, with daytime maximums expected to drop below 15 degrees Celsius by the weekend.
