Sunny Deol and Emraan Hashmi set for box office clash in August 2026

Two major Bollywood films, 'Batwara 1947' and 'Awarapan 2', are set to clash at the box office on August 14, 2026. The release coincides with the Independence Day weekend in India.

'Batwara 1947', directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, is a period drama centered on the partition of India and Pakistan. The film stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol. It explores the struggles of people displaced by the partition through the story of a Muslim family and a Hindu homeowner.

'Awarapan 2', directed by Nitin Kakkar, is a sequel to the 2007 film 'Awarapan'. It features Emraan Hashmi returning to his character Shivam, alongside Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. The story follows Shivam as he navigates crime, love, and revenge.

Industry predictions suggest a close competition for opening day collections. 'Batwara 1947' is estimated to collect between 10 to 13 crore rupees, potentially benefiting from its patriotic theme. 'Awarapan 2' is projected to earn between 10 to 15 crore rupees, driven by the sequel factor and Emraan Hashmi's following.
