Sunny Hostin discusses racism experienced by children in private schools

Sunny Hostin, co-host of ‘The View’, stated that her children experienced racism and psychological trauma while attending well-resourced, predominantly White private schools. While noting that her children excelled academically, Hostin described instances of bullying and identity-related trauma, including specific incidents involving her daughter’s hair.

Hostin’s comments were made during a discussion regarding Nikole Hannah-Jones, founder of the 1619 Project, who recently expressed regret over certain aspects of sending her daughter to high-poverty public schools in Brooklyn to confront educational inequality.

Hostin argued that both experiences highlight systemic issues within American education. She pointed to a funding gap, noting that schools in predominantly non-White districts receive approximately $23 billion less in annual funding than their White counterparts due to the reliance on property taxes for public school funding.
