Sunrise Energy Metals shares rise 12.7% following ASX 200 inclusion
Sunrise Energy Metals saw its share price rise by 12.71 percent to 20.48 AUD on the ASX, following its recent inclusion in the ASX 200 index. This price movement is attributed to mechanical buying by index funds and fund managers rather than new operational announcements.
The company is developing the Syerston Project in New South Wales, which contains significant deposits of scandium, nickel, and cobalt. Scandium is considered a critical mineral due to global supply scarcity. The project has received a conditional commitment for up to 400 million USD in long-term debt financing from the U.S. Office of Strategic Capital, a unit of the U.S. Department of Defense.
Sunrise Energy Metals aims for an initial production of 60 tonnes of scandium oxide per year starting in 2028, with potential future expansion to 180 tonnes per year. The company has also indicated plans to pursue a U.S. stock listing to access global capital markets.
