Sunrun and Voltus partner to support AI data center energy needs

Sunrun has entered into an agreement with distributed energy resource platform Voltus to support its ‘Bring Your Own Capacity’ (BYOC) programs. The partnership aims to provide energy capacity from Sunrun’s residential solar-plus-storage systems to meet the increasing electricity demands of AI hyperscalers.

The agreement will cover the PJM grid region, which includes 13 US states and Washington, D.C., as well as the MISO region, spanning 15 states and Manitoba, Canada. Through the BYOC program, Voltus utilizes flexible distributed resources to reduce energy demand during peak grid needs, providing compensation to participating homes and businesses.
