Sunsari memorial established for three youths killed in Kaptanganj clash

A memorial has been established in Sunsari near Kaptanganj Bazaar to honor three young men killed during a violent clash between two groups on July 26. The deceased have been identified as 25-year-old Om Prakash Mehta, 21-year-old Jaya Prakash Mehta, and 19-year-old Rabindra Mehta.

Small mounds of earth were created at the cremation site to mark where the bodies were burned, and relatives continue to visit the location to perform rituals. During a recent prayer service, family members gathered to honor Rabindra Mehta, who had reportedly returned to the scene after hearing about the initial conflict.

Mugalal Mehta, a former Constituent Assembly member and grandfather to Rabindra, noted that the Kaptanganj clash was the first incident in the area to exhibit a violent communal character. He suggested that while locals were involved, individuals from outside the area may have contributed to the escalation of the situation.
