SUNY expands ASAP and ACE student support programs

The State University of New York (SUNY) is expanding its Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) and Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) programs. Supported by an additional $8 million allocated in the FY2026-27 Enacted State Budget, the initiatives are set to serve 10,000 students across 44 SUNY campuses starting in the fall 2026 semester.

These programs are designed to remove barriers to degree completion by providing personalized advisement, academic support, career development, and financial assistance for essentials such as textbooks, groceries, and transportation. Data indicates that ASAP|ACE participants earn more credits and are more likely to remain enrolled or complete their degrees compared to similar students.

At SUNY Polytechnic Institute, the ACE program has seen significant growth, expanding from an initial cohort of 32 students in Spring 2024 to 300 students for the 2026-27 academic year. SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr. recently visited Hudson Valley Community College to highlight the program's expansion and its role in promoting upward mobility for students in the Capital Region.
