Suomen Yrittäjät proposes 5.7–8.6 billion euro fiscal adjustment

Suomen Yrittäjät (Finnish Entrepreneurs) has proposed a fiscal adjustment program valued between 5.7 and 8.6 billion euros to stabilize Finland's public finances. The proposal focuses on expenditure restraint, public sector reform, and growth-oriented reforms, aiming to strengthen the economy without increasing taxes on work or entrepreneurship.

The plan includes estimated expenditure savings of 3.4 to 5.9 billion euros, revenue-side measures of 1.8 billion euros, and reforms to business and tax subsidies totaling 0.5 to 0.8 billion euros. Key components involve significant cuts to the pension system, index-based reductions, and streamlining the structures and tasks of wellbeing services counties.

Additional measures suggested include reforming the municipal state subsidy system, optimizing public procurement, and restructuring vocational education. The organization also proposes involving small and medium-sized enterprises more heavily in the production of social and health services through a multi-producer model. Chairman Petri Salminen emphasized the need to adhere to debt brakes, noting that Finland's rapid debt accumulation results in significant tax revenue being spent on interest payments.
