Suomi.fi phishing scam targets Finnish citizens

A phishing scam is circulating in Finland, impersonating the Suomi.fi service to target citizens. The fraudulent emails mimic official government communications, specifically claiming that new documents regarding debt collection have arrived from the Ministry of Justice or the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.

The scam utilizes urgency by stating that the documents cannot be read directly in the email for security reasons, prompting recipients to click a link to log in to Suomi.fi. Experts warn that while the link text may appear legitimate, it directs users to a fraudulent website designed to steal credentials. To remain safe, users are advised to access the Suomi.fi service directly through a web browser or official app rather than clicking links in unexpected emails.

In addition to the Suomi.fi impersonation, the Finnish Telemarketing Association has reported other ongoing scams, including English-language phishing attempts using the DHL name regarding halted package deliveries, as well as unexpected Google Meet invitations.
