The anime series Super Dragon Ball Heroes, a spin-off within the Dragon Ball timeline, concluded its run on August 8, 2024. Spanning 56 episodes over six years, the production was primarily designed to promote card and video games of the same name.

Set after the events of the Tournament of Power, the plot follows the character Fu, who kidnaps Future Trunks to lure Goku and Vegeta to the Prison Planet. This experimental world features warriors from various planets and eras competing for Special Dragon Balls.

The series has faced criticism for its heavy reliance on marketing and fanservice over cohesive storytelling. While the first 50 episodes were produced using traditional 2D animation by Toei Animation, the final episodes transitioned to 3D CGI animation provided by Dimps, utilizing assets from the arcade game.
