Super Falcons defeat Comoros 2-0 in Olympic qualifier

Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured a 2-0 victory against Comoros in the first leg of their second-round qualifying tie for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The match, held at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, saw second-half goals from defender Michelle Alozie in the 48th minute and forward Uchenna Kanu in the 60th minute.

Interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen led the squad despite the absence of key players Asisat Oshoala, Ashley Plumptre, and Oluwatosin Demehin, who withdrew from the team. Eguavoen emphasized the need for discipline and respect for the opposition, noting that while Nigeria holds a significant pedigree as 10-time African champions, they must remain focused to avoid complacency.

Due to Comoros lacking a CAF-approved stadium, both legs of the tie are being hosted in Nigeria. The Super Falcons hold a two-goal advantage heading into the return fixture, which is scheduled to take place at the same venue on October 13.
