Super League 2026-2027 season to begin in Indonesia

The 2026-2027 Super League season in Indonesia is set to commence on September 4, 2026. The opening matches include Arema FC hosting Isenmulang Kalteng FC at Kanjuruhan Stadium, followed by Bali United facing PSS Sleman at Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium.

Club activities are intensifying ahead of the kickoff. Java United FC has officially signed Brazilian striker Gustavo Almeida on a one-season contract to bolster their attack. Meanwhile, Persib Bandung has completed its foreign player quota with the addition of Croatian defender Danijel Loncar. Persib captain Marc Klok noted that while the team sees opportunities for global recognition, the dense schedule and travel requirements present significant physical and mental challenges.

In terms of strategic development, the Indonesian Football League (LIB) is encouraging clubs to transform their academies into economic assets rather than mere expenses, aiming to optimize the domestic player transfer market. Additionally, Borneo FC is preparing for a demanding season across four different competitions, including the Super League, League Cup, ASEAN Club Championship, and AFC Challenge League.
