Super League clubs approve Deloitte study on television rights
During a Super League board meeting, club owners reached a consensus to commission a study by Deloitte regarding the potential centralized management of television rights. The proposal, introduced by Olympiacos owner Vangelis Marinakis, aims to examine whether a unified model could increase total revenue and enhance the competitiveness of the Greek league.
In contrast, a proposal by Super League President and Panathinaikos owner Giannis Alafouzos, which suggested an equal distribution of television revenues among all 14 clubs, was rejected. The proposal from Olympiacos, AEK, and PAOK prevented the equal distribution plan from even reaching a vote.
While owners disagreed on the distribution model, they reached an agreement to honor all existing television contracts until their completion. The upcoming Deloitte study will analyze market data and financial parameters to provide a concrete basis for future discussions on how to manage broadcasting rights collectively.
