Super Micro Computer appoints Mark Long as CFO

Super Micro Computer has appointed Mark Long as senior vice president and chief financial officer, ending a search that lasted more than 22 months. Long, a former CFO and chief strategy officer at Western Digital, will report directly to founder and CEO Charles Liang.

The appointment follows a 2024 recommendation from an independent special committee to hire a new finance chief after the company identified “lapses” in certain processes. Long succeeds David Weigand, who will assist with the transition and focus on business optimization.

Under his employment terms, Long will receive an annual base salary of $725,000 and a $500,000 sign-on bonus, which is subject to prorated repayment if he departs within two years. He is also eligible for various performance-based cash bonuses and restricted stock units.
