Super Micro Computer reports June quarter profit beat
Super Micro Computer reported June quarter results featuring a significant profit beat driven by gross margins. Adjusted earnings reached $1.70 per share, exceeding the $0.92 analyst expectation. This performance was largely attributed to a non-GAAP gross margin of 17.6%, which far surpassed the company’s previous guidance of 8.2% to 8.4%.
Revenue for the quarter was $11.1 billion, a 93% increase year-over-year, though it landed at the lower end of the company’s projected range. Management attributed the revenue shortfall to customer readiness delays that shifted the revenue mix. While enterprise and channel revenue nearly doubled, OEM appliance and large data center revenue fell 26% sequentially.
For the September quarter, the company provided revenue guidance between $14.5 billion and $15.5 billion. However, gross margin is expected to decrease to a range of 10.4% to 10.8% as deferred contracts move into the new period.
