Super Troopers 3 slammed by critics for dated, crass comedy

Two recent reviews give the new Broken Lizard film Super Troopers 3 very low marks, with one rating it one out of five stars and another assigning just 1½ stars. Critics describe the sequel as a collection of dated jokes, crude humor and a thin plot that fails to capture the energy of the original 2001 comedy.

The movie follows Vermont State Police senior trooper "Thorny" Ramathorn (Jay Chandrasekhar, who also directs) as he tries to stop his sister’s wedding to the obnoxious officer Farva (Kevin Heffernan) while confronting a new drug called Canadian Crystal and the arrival of electric patrol cars. Reviewers note that the film leans heavily on vulgar gags about race, sex, drugs and Canada, offering few genuinely funny moments. Veteran actor Brian Cox appears as retired Captain John O’Hagen, but even his presence cannot lift the film beyond a series of over‑long, unfunny scenes.
