SuperDogs celebrates 50 years of canine performances

The SuperDogs canine performance show is celebrating 50 years since its debut at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver in 1976. The event features hundreds of dogs from across Canada, many of which are rescues from animal shelters and humane societies.

Performers include Lisa Sun and her three pugs—Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi—who provide comedic relief through synchronized tricks and personality-driven acts. While some trainers travel for various shows, including those at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, most participants are local and return to their homes after performing for crowds that can reach thousands.

Host David Acer described the show as a source of joy that brings together diverse age groups, offering a shared moment of entertainment for spectators ranging from children to seniors.
