Tunja man imprisoned for aggravated feminicide

Andrés Camilo Quintero Suárez has been sent to prison following his admission of responsibility for the aggravated feminicide of his partner, Karen Julieth Coronado Cárdenas, in Tunja, Colombia.

The incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday, August 30, in the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood. According to the Fiscalía General de la Nación, Quintero Suárez attacked the 28-year-old woman with a sharp object, causing fatal wounds. Investigators determined the attack was motivated by jealousy.

The couple had shared an intermittent relationship for four years and had lived together for the past four months. The prosecution noted that the victim had been subjected to a cycle of physical and psychological violence. During the judicial hearings held on September 3, Quintero Suárez voluntarily accepted the charges. A judge subsequently ordered his detention in a correctional facility while the legal process continues.
