Supergirl film opens July 1, 2026 starring Milly Alcock
The DC Universe's film Supergirl was released worldwide on 1 July 2026. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the movie features Australian actress Milly Alcock as Kara Zor‑El, Superman's cousin, alongside Jason Momoa (Lobo), Matthias Schoenaerts (Krem), David Corenswet (Superman) and Eve Ridley.
The release follows an earlier, unrelated Supergirl script written for Sasha Calle in the defunct DCEU that was cancelled after the 2023 The Flash. Screenwriter Ana Nogueira confirmed the canceled project bore no connection to the new film, which is built around the DCU’s updated continuity.
The new Supergirl marks the first solo outing for the character in the revived DC franchise and is part of a slate that includes Superman (2025) and the upcoming Man of Tomorrow (2027).
