Supergirl movie directed by Craig Gillespie debuts June 26 in US and Japan

The DC Universe film "Supergirl" will be released simultaneously in the United States and Japan on June 26. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the movie follows Kara Zor‑El, played by Millie Alco (Millie Bobby Brown), as she confronts trauma from the loss of her home planet Krypton. David Corenswet reprises Superman, bringing his own improvisational flair to the role.

Gillespie, who previously helmed "Superman" (2025), said James Gunn, co‑CEO of DC Studios, gave him creative freedom to treat each film as a distinct graphic‑novel style work. The director highlighted the film’s focus on imperfect, emotionally wounded protagonists and the new alien worlds and languages created for the story.
