Supergirl streaming viewership trails previous DC Studios releases

While the film ‘Supergirl’ reached the number one spot on HBO Max’s internal movie charts following its debut, Nielsen streaming data suggests its viewership is lower than previous DC Studios releases.

According to Nielsen, the Milly Alcock-led film generated 304 million minutes of viewing in the United States during its first four days on the service. This performance placed it fifth on Nielsen’s streaming movie chart for the period of September 7 through September 13, trailing behind titles such as ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’ and ‘The Whisper Man.’

Data indicates that ‘Supergirl’s’ initial consumption falls below several other recent DC films previously considered box office disappointments, including ‘The Flash,’ ‘Blue Beetle,’ ‘Black Adam,’ and ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods.’ Estimates suggest the film reached the equivalent of approximately 2.8 million complete views in its first four days, a figure significantly lower than the streaming debuts of ‘Superman’ or ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’
